This is a very good movie and is definitely worth seeing. Take out the bit about the aliens coming back, a silly scientology twist, and this movie gives a pretty good picture of the feeling of the last day on earth. However, the Bible does tell us the events in more detail and they are different than just the natural phenomenon that this movie shows, but there is a strong Christian subtext to this movie that brings forth a powerful truth for our need to "know".

I am so thankful that an awakening is occuring in light a loss of direction for so many people. Mainstream Hollywood movies are beginning to bring movies that are walking the line of faith vs. science (and unfortunately vs. sciontology). Those that "know" see the importance of constantly calling to those that are without hope and searching blindly in this world for direction. We will try everything in life to fill the void: Work, Gaining Wealth, Drugs, Sex, Lust, Food, Alcohol, Midwestern Congeniality, Sports, Pornography, and an overinduglence in any one or all of these when the pain of "not knowing" doesn"t seem to go away. Thank God that the world is put into a financial crisis; a shockwave of this magnitude is exactly what it will take to wake people up, open the eyes of our hearts so that we can see clearly again, and seek the truth.


So many friends of mine and people who I have grown to love completely reject the teachings of God in written in the Holy Bible. They believe that Jesus Christ was simply a man and that the Bible is nothing more than a fantastic story.

My experience when I was young was such that even while going to church I never had the opportunity to know God because His truth was not being taught. Sadly, the church in America has allowed for comprimise of God"s word and has fallen into a pattern of "going through the motions". Sadly, this will keep many from having their hearts convicted to "seek Him". However, if we soften our hearts and seek Him truly wanting to know God and believe in Him, we must honestly allow our minds to consider the truths that God wants all of His children to know through His words in the Bible. Then and only then, will God"s words in the Bible plant the seeds in our heart that "according to the Parable of the Sower", can arrive in fertile soil, take root, and grow.

Until this time, noone who reads the Bible will be able to hear God"s voice - because we will only be reading a book, not trying to hear God"s words or understand them. We will approach the reading of the Bible as we are reading a story in National Geographic and after 20 minutes of "trying to find God", and not meditating on His words, allowing verses of scripture to cycle again in our brain until we can truly understand what it means, we will walk away and say, "I can"t understand this, I give up". For those of you who are empty and seeking and are ready to not give up as I have hit that wall so many times before I truly softened my heart, opened my ears to hear, and opened the eyes of my heart to see (which only God was able to do through His Holy Word), read these verses, meditate on their meaning, and then say this prayer with me.

2 Corinthians 3:12-18

12 Therefore having such a hope, we use great boldness in our speech, 13 and are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face so that the sons of Israel would not look intently at the end of what was fading away. 14 But their minds were hardened; for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remains unlifted, because it is removed in Christ. 15 But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart;16 but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Let"s Pray:

Our Father in Heaven, Lord I am not worthy of you. I am a sinner who has rejected You, I have turned my face from You, and I have run from Your Holy Word. Lord, a veil is over my eyes that keeps me from knowing You and understanding who I am and why You have created me. Father, please lift this veil so that as I seek You through Your Holy Word, I may truly understand, see You, and the eyes of my heart may be opened so that I may know You, find peace in my life, and know how I fit into your plan. As I read the words of your Bible, help bring the truth of your Words into my heart so that I may understand clearly. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

The best place to start: John Ch 1. Read this many times until you have completely absorbed it. When you are hungry for more, read the book of Genesis.


The first paragraph in this first chapter talks about the "Word." It helps to know that the "Word" is referring to Jesus Christ... who has always existed, who was with God, and was God. "In Him was life... the Light of men."



CHAPTER 1
The Deity of Jesus Christ

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God. 3All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

The Witness John

6There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. 9There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

The Word Made Flesh

14And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15John testified about Him and cried out, saying, "This was He of whom I said, "He who comes after me has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me."" 16For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace. 17For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ. 18No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.
